$100,000,000 Fornite World Cup Details

If there were any doubts about the size of Fortnite’s popularity or the staying power of its competitive scene then Epic Games have done their best to put them to be as they announce plans to bring a total prize pool of $1,000,000 to Fortnite’s competitive scene across 2019. It’s a pretty astounding amount of prize money for what is a free-to-play game but should come at no surprise considering Fortnite’s popularity. you only need to look at how well it performanced across 2018 on twitch to see it was one of the most watched games throughtout the year.

There will be ten weekly online open qualifies running from April 13th to June 16th, with a $1,000,000 on the line for eligible* players. The top 100 solo players and the top 50 duo teams will then compete at the world cup finals in New York on July 26th-28th with its own $30,000,000 prize pool on offer. Each player will be guaranteed $50,000 for just reaching the finals and the solo world cup winner will walk home with a $3,000,000 top prize.

The world cup won’t herald the end for Fortnite’s competitive schedule as Epic Games will continue to back tournaments with $1,000,0000 in cash prizes right through the remainder of 2019.
