Big Magic: The Gathering Esports 2019 Announcement

Magic: The Gathering (MTG) has stepped up its Esports plans for 2019 with more tournaments, bigger prizes and more ways to win. MTG will host 7 championship events, 4 for tabletop and 3 for arena (Online) that will run throughout the year. The first tabletop championship will get underway in Cleveland, Ohio on the 22nd of February. The 2nd championship on the 26th of April will take place in London, giving our UK competitors their first chance to book a ticket into the World Championship in December and help themselves to a share of the $500,000 prize pool on offer.

Here’s what the (still developing) Mythic Championship schedule looks like for 2019.

Mythic Championship I – February 22–24 – Cleveland, Ohio – Tabletop – $500,000 prize pool
Mythic Championship II – April 26–28 – London, England – Tabletop – $500,000 prize pool
Mythic Championship III – June/July TBA – MTG Arena – $750,000 prize pool
Mythic Championship IV – July 26–28 – Barcelona, Spain – Tabletop – $500,000 prize pool
Mythic Championship V – August/September TBA – MTG Arena – $750,000 prize pool
Mythic Championship VI – November 8–10 – Richmond, Virginia – Tabletop – $500,000 prize pool
Mythic Championship VII – November/December TBA – MTG Arena – $750,000 prize pool

16 of the best MTG players, across both the tabletop Magic and MTG Arena, will go head to head in the World Championship and share in the $1 million worth of prizes and get a chance to crown themselves the Magic World Champion.
