China’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (CMHRSS) has added “esports operator” and “esports professional” to a list of 15 new officially recognized professions in China. This now means that officially you can add esports professional to your CV, at least in China, but as the popularity of esports grows we’ll surely see more countries follow suit.
CMHRSS defines “esports operators” as those who organise esports events or produce esports content, as well as those who increase the commercial value of esports through promotion and marketing.
“Esports professionals” are considered those who compete in tournaments, perform in events, or train with other professionals. It can also refer to those who analyse games or assist with training.
We’ll see how much affect this has on the esports global industry as a whole but it’s a step in the right direction for esports players everwhere.
