In a cross-platform final that went all the way to Penalties, PSV Eindhoven’s Stefano ‘PSV Pinnah97’ Pinna won narrowly against Michael ‘Megabit’ Bittner in the Gfinity FIFA 19 series for February. Pinna took home a tidy $8,750 (£6,650 approximately) and 750 global series ranking points, not bad for a two-day event.
Pinna was slow out of the blocks in the swiss rounds on Saturday, but by the times the knockout stages came around he was in full flow, winning 9-0 against Agit-_-Power in the PlayStation 4 semi-final and setting up for a narrow 2-0 win in a close fought Playstation final against VfbDrErhano.
On the XBOX One side Megabit produced the shock of the day winning out 6-4 on aggregate against Donovan ‘F2Tekkz’ Hunt. F2Tekkz looked in control taking the first leg 2-0 but Megabit fought back hard and produced a superb display to put the Englishman out. Megabit then won 6-3 against PSG DaXe in the XBOX One grand final, to book his place in the cross-platform final.
Megabit started slow, losing 3-1 on his preferred XBOX One but fought back on the PlayStation 4, in the second leg, to take it into extra time. A goal apiece in extra time meant the two still couldn’t be separated, and the final would go all the way to a penalty shoot out. With Megabit missing his first penalty, Pinna jumped on the advantage and was flawless from the spot winning the Grand final, his first overall championship win.
